The Immanuel Congregation will celebrate Black History Month in February, under the theme ‘The People Who Came.’ Among the events of the month will be the hosting of ‘Imanuelypso 2014’. This event will take place on Friday, February 28, at 8 o’clock n the evening at the Immanuel Church Hall in Sandy Point. According to one of the congregation’s Stewards, Marilyn Bertie, the event is a calypso show based on black history, and promises to be educational and entertaining. All participants are taken from within the congregation. This is the second time that the event is being held. It was first presented in 2013 and had good support from members of the congregation and the wider community, with Viandre Edwards emerging as the winner. He is expected to defend his winning position.
Other events for the month include a fifteen minute presentation by the Choir, Youth, Women and Men’s groups during Morning Worship, one group each Sunday.
