THE ST. CHRISTOPHER OUTREACH CENTER
About
The St. Christopher Outreach Center, located at the Bay Road, began operating on 10 July 2010. The Center now provides hot and nutritious meals to more than 80 underprivileged – shut-ins, homeless, the lonely and needy, from Monday to Friday, as well as facilities for showering and a change of clothing.
The Center’s establishment was triggered by a caring/compassionate gentleman, the late Mr. Kishu Chandiramani, former Proprietor of RAMS Group of Companies, who in February 2010, expressed his desire to start a Soup Kitchen for the homeless. This desire was communicated to the members of the St. Kitts Christian Council, of which the Methodist Church is member, who teamed up with him to establish the St. Christopher Outreach Center, with the objective of reaching out to a wider community and providing other care services.
The Center’s operations are funded by RAMS Group of Companies, in partnership with Delisle Walwyn & Co. Ltd, SKNA National Bank, and St. Kitts Christian Council. The Center also receives contributions from American Bakery and Fraites & Sons Bakery, and donations from generous individuals.
The Center is managed by a Steering Committee comprising representatives from RAMS Group of Companies and the St. Kitts Christian Council and is assisted in its daily operations by a staff and a group of volunteers. Donations and volunteer help are welcome.
The Center was a recipient of the Inaugural Ecclesiastical Affairs Outstanding Community Service Awards in 2017.
