About
The idea of a bookstore came out of the production and sale of locally made Christmas Cards. The sale of these cards formed part of the fund-raising efforts for the repairs of the Wesley chapel which was damaged after the passage of Hurricane George of 1998. The idea was discussed among a small group of members who planned and prayed.
The first major answer to their prayers came in the form of the building which was made available on Fort Street, Basseterre, and rented at an affordable rate. The Bookstore still occupies that building today. A small loan was required to prepare the area for use and to purchase stock.
The Harmony Christian Bookstore opened to the public in 2002. The merchandise consists of Bibles, devotional material and other items of Christian literature, Children’s books and games, greeting cards, CDs, videos, plaques, mugs, and other gift items. In this time of Covid-19, the Bookstore is open daily, Monday to Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., observing protocols.
The Bookstore was able to operate with volunteers from the Circuit from the inception until April 2006, when it became necessary to employ a full-time salesperson. In December 2010, the Bookstore was again able to function with volunteer staff only and continues to do so to date. Some volunteers work half-a-day, while others work a full eight-hour day. A management team overlooks the daily functions, including maintenance, purchasing, and accounting.
The Harmony Christian Bookstore has been blessed to be able to make its contributions to the Circuit, while supporting and enhancing the spiritual growth of the membership and the public at large. The Management is grateful to God for His guidance over the years, the start-up prayer partners, the guarantors, the volunteers, and all others who support this work. So, visit the Bookstore for a wide variety of study materials and other Christian literature. May the Lord's blessings be upon it!
